Position Summary: The Office of Residence Life has two Assistant Directors of Residence Life who

provide direct leadership and supervision for either the first-year experience or upper-class experience

and supervise the Graduate Residence Directors in their designated areas. The Assistant Directors are

responsible for facilitating student development through individual student interactions, establishing

community within residential areas, and developing leadership skills to assigned staff. The Assistant

Directors promote student learning and success through working collaboratively with campus partners

and Residence Life staff. This is a full-time; 12-month professional, live-in staff position. Wingate

University is a residential campus with over 2,200 undergraduate and graduate beds that Residence

Life oversees.

This opening is for the Assistant Director of Residence Life for Upper-class Experience. Duties and Responsibilities:

● Train, supervise, support and evaluate a staff of Graduate Resident Directors.

● In conjunction with the Assistant Director for first-year experience, oversee the development,

planning, and implementation of a comprehensive student staff-training program, including the

beginning of the fall, spring, and summer semesters and monthly in-service gatherings. Also,

oversee the recruitment and selection processes for student and graduate staff.

● Lead departmental efforts to develop and strengthen the upper-class living experience.

● Assist with housing operations for your designated area of campus. This includes ensuring that

room condition reports, key management, and room changes are completed correctly and in a

timely manner.

● Oversight of area safety operations (health and safety inspections, fire drills, etc). Primary lead

for maintenance and upkeep for the areas you oversee. This includes following up with

maintenance about damage and/or maintenance needs, groundskeeping needs, and

housekeeping needs.

● Case management for the area that you oversee. This includes names that come from BIT

team, students who need follow up from Maxient reports, etc. Meet with residents to discuss

behaviors, refer as appropriate, and follow-up as needed. Coordinate with RDs for the areas

you oversee to also have follow up with students. Assist with the University conduct process;

administrate community standards hearings.

● Maintain a strong presence in campus housing by interacting and building strong, positive

relationships with residents, custodial staff, and student staff.

● Serve in on-call rotation to provide leadership during emergency or crisis situations in

cooperation with Campus Safety.

Education and Experience: ● Candidate must have a completed Bachelor degree. Preferred for candidate to have a

completed Master degree.

● Previous experience in residence life is preferred.

● Experience using THD (Adirondack), Maxient, and Salesforce desired, not required.

Physical Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.

• Ability to move items up to 25-30 pounds and be physically able to stand, walk, climb, squat, kneel, push, pull, twist, bend, lift and carry items.

• Some night and weekend hours are necessary.
