Job Description
The School of Engineering at Texas A&M International University is in need for a Machine shop Technician/Machinist.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage, operate, and maintain TAMIU machines; computer numerical controlled and manual equipment (Mill and Lathe machines).
- Maintain tooling and quality performance.
- Assist in training sessions on CNC machines and software, and provide technical assistance to students, staff, and faculty.
- Assist students in different courses such as Computer Integration Manufacturing, Engineering Project Management and Proposals, and Senior Design
- Keep the work area and equipment clean, orderly, and perform routine maintenance are required.
Minimum Requirements
- Education - High School Diploma or GED.
- May not be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at Texas A&M International University.
- Experience - Working in metal machine shops and with CNC machines.
- Experience - Measurement and Design Tools, with basic-to-intermediate computer skills.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to interact effectively and in a professional manner with the university community, public, and the students to be served.
- Ability to set up, program, and operate CNC controls.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work, as well as attend to detail.
