Open-Area Associate Professor or Professor

The School of Communication at The Ohio State University invites applications for a 9-month full time position at the rank of associate professor or professor, with tenure, to begin August 2024. The successful applicant will conduct research and teach courses in areas that further the school’s leadership in the social scientific study of communication. We welcome applicants whose research complements and builds on our areas of strength, which include communication technology and society; health communication and social influence; mass communication uses and effects; and/or political communication and public opinion. Preference will be given to scholars with a demonstrated track record of external funding or who are on a trajectory to securing external funding.
Education and Experience Requirements
Required: Candidates must be trained in communication or a closely aligned field and have or be developing a national and international reputation doing theory-based empirical research. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D., a demonstrated record of excellent productivity and placement in the major disciplinary or specialty journals in Communication and/or allied fields, and a solid record of teaching and mentorship.
Desired: A research funding track record or evidence of potential to develop such funding is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate attentiveness to building a diverse intellectual community, in line with OSU’s shared values (see below).
