Description
The Philosophy Department at Carnegie Mellon University seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track, appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2024. The department seeks candidates whose research interfaces significantly with that of CMU’s Institute for Complex Social Dynamics . While Areas of Specialization/Areas of Competence are open, candidates who work in philosophy of science, decision and game theory, social epistemology, or social and political philosophy are especially encouraged to apply. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Department of Philosophy strongly supports interdisciplinary and collaborative research, and we encourage individuals from diverse intellectual and scientific backgrounds to apply. The successful candidate may have a PhD from any discipline, but must show significant engagement with philosophy. The standard teaching load is 3.5 courses per year over 2 semesters, both undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as other non-teaching responsibilities.
