    PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB: The purpose is to enhance and facilitate student engagement strategies and student leadership development initiatives, as part of a comprehensive effort to improve student success.



    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: The Vice Provost for Student Affairs responsible for coordinating and implementing the university’s strategic enrollment plan and provides leadership and administrative support for the offices of Academic Advising, Undergraduate Admissions, Career Services, Registration and Records, Student Retention Services (programs including the First Year, Second Year and Transfer Experience), Financial Aid and Scholarships, Institutional Research, and TRIO Programs (including Student Support Services, Educational Talent Search, and Upward Bound).



    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • In collaboration with the university’s leadership, establish enrollment goals based on strategic analysis of student success, program specific and institutional capacity market research and geo-demographic data;
  • Develop and implement, in conjunction with other offices, the strategic enrollment and marketing plan for the university, applying generally accepted, exemplary practice enrollment management concepts and strategies designed to aid the recruitment and retention of a culturally diverse student population;
  • Lead strategic analytic group in exploiting data in an effort to promote student growth and completion, using deep data mining and modeling techniques to drive improved outcomes;
  • Work collaboratively with the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Vice President for Finance and Business Affairs, the Deans, the faculty, and others in creating a seamless enrollment management process;
  • Plan and implement systematic evaluations of all personnel, programs and projects within the office of Student Success and Enrollment Management, ensuring conformance with applicable regulatory and licensing standards and other university evaluation processes;
  • Help develop departmental budgets, ensuring personnel and expenses are included for the support of enrollment outreach and the enhancement of student success, marketing and advertising and student support services;
  • Conduct studies to determine the effectiveness of student development and support programs and staff on a scheduled basis;
  • May recommend new academic offerings to university faculty and leadership based on prospective student interests and market demands; and help orient and ensure the professional growth of all staff involved in student success


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s Degree in education, business, public administration/ policy or related field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of four years of experience in higher education at the Director level or above
  • Demonstrated commitment to education and student excellence
  • Demonstrated understanding of exemplary practices in developing, evaluating ad improving recruitment, enrollment and marketing from a date driven perspective
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
  • Proven skills in leadership, relationship building, and program development, as well as a strong commitment to and understanding of the dynamic of a multi-ethnic, diverse institution
  • Demonstrated decision-making, problem-solving, and collaboration skills with a wide spectrum of university constituents
  • Excellent writing, communication, presentation, interpersonal and management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks
  • Self-starter with strong detail orientation and excellent follow-up skills
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively
  • Ability to effectively interface with all stakeholders in all levels within the organization
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Grant-writing skills and successes
  • Excellent analytical ability, and familiarity with current technology utilized in the development and execution of comprehensive marketing and recruitment plans are key components for success
  • Demonstrated experience reflecting a successful record of leadership, strategic planning, marketing, implementation, and goal attainment; team building, and general management (staff supervision, policy development, and fiscal management)
  • Knowledge of current issues in recruitment, retention and financial aid in higher education
  • Commitment to the mission of KSU and to the belief in a campus-wide culture of accountability for the success all students
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Enrollment Services, Retention & Advising Services, and Academic Affairs personnel, including administrators, faculty/advisors and professional staff.
  • Thorough understanding of student services best practices in higher education.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to adjust work schedule, as needed, for weekend and evening activities.
  • Sensitivity to economic, cultural, and other issues relating to persistence of a diverse student body.
  • Experience developing key performance indicators for personnel.
  • Outstanding supervisory skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
