Job Summary
The selected individual will be responsibility for maintenance and landscaping of the university grounds. Grounds personnel must be available for early morning and/or night hours depending on campus events and in some instances the weather forecast. Work may be done in a group with other groundskeepers, other FM staff, student workers, or staff from other departments. The ability to work with people of diverse personalities, education, and cultural background is important.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
•Ability to work within the overall organization of Facilities Management.
•Must possess good oral and written communication skills with the capacity to follow instructions and the capability to express ideas effectively and concisely.
•Must be willing to seek training to enhance or learn new skills.
Essential Job Functions
•Must be accessible and available in the event of emergencies or when needed to meet the ongoing missions of the University.
•Must possess and maintain a Mississippi Driver’s License.
•Must adhere to all safety standards and work practices set by the Department of Facilities Management.
•Should be well organized and able to work independently without close supervision.
•Should be vitally interested in grounds maintenance.
Qualifications
High School diploma with one to two years experience in the care and maintenance of a similar facility. Will also accept any combination of education, training, or experience which fulfills the requirements of the position and needs of Alcorn State University.
