The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking aResearch Program Coordinator. Under direct supervision of a Research Program Manager, the Research Program Coordinator will primarily assist in the day-to-day logistics and operations for clinical research in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Bayview Medical Center. Will interact with the investigators, collaborators, and patients in a clinical research environment, coordinate all activities for one or more of our ongoing clinical trials. Assist in carrying out research in accordance with good clinical practices in such activities as obtaining informed consent, data and specimen collection, and patient follow-up over time.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain a good working knowledge of all assigned study protocols and reporting requirements.
- Adhere to all protocol requirements to ensure validity of clinical research data.
- Interact with clinicians and other gatekeepers to access the patient population.
- Recruit and enroll research participants.
- Verify patient eligibility for studies.
- Interview patients.
- Collect patient specimens (e.g., blood, urine, or saliva) and other patient data from a variety of sources.
- Schedule follow-up visits.
- Enter data into computer databases.
- Maintain paper and computerized research files.
- Participate in research group meetings: schedule meetings; create agendas; complete minutes.
- Prepare mandatory reports and documents/protocols.
- Prepare for and participate in audits and monitoring of studies.
- Assist in preparation and maintenance of IRB protocols and related documents.
- Meet regularly with manager and/or team leader to review data accuracy, shift reports, and overall study progress.
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Must be comfortable collecting saliva, urine, or blood samples from patients.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and data entry, including software applications, databases, mathematical and statistical tools, spreadsheets, and word processing.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Independent and self-motivated.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated strong, positive interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and within a variety of cultures.
- Bilingual (proficient in both English and Spanish is preferred) but Spanish is not mandatory.
Work Schedule/Hours
- 40 hours a week
- Must be available to work 8 hours shifts at
a time between the hours of 7am and Midnight.
- Must be flexible and available to work some
evenings and weekends.
- Reliable transportation required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong data management skills.
- A year of related experience in clinical trials/human subject's research.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester
hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of

be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required
for the respective job.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.
