The School of Communication & Media at Montclair State University invites applications for undergraduate teaching for the following areas of specialization:

Single Camera Production and Editing Instructor – The School of Communication and Media is seeking qualified instructors for single camera production and editing courses. Candidates should be skilled in film and video content development, script writing, storytelling, production aesthetics (staging, lighting, sound, image composition and editing). MSU uses Adobe Creative Suite. Most courses are at the introductory level, but there are some intermediate and advanced courses. College level teaching experience is preferred.

Multiple Camera Studio and Control Room Instructor – The School of Communication and Media is seeking qualified instructors for multiple camera studio and control room production courses. Candidates should be skilled in content development, script writing, storytelling, production aesthetics (staging,
lighting, sound, image composition and editing) and experienced in multiple camera production environments. Most courses are at the introductory level, but there are some intermediate and advanced courses. At the introductory level, production exercises include interview/panel discussion programs, newscasts and demonstration programs. At the intermediate/advanced level, exercises include music,
narrative and dance programs and long form programs such as concerts and musical theater. College level teaching experience is preferred.

Audio Production and Recording Instructor – The School of Communication and Media is seeking qualified instructors for intermediate and advanced audio production courses. Candidates should be skilled in Pro Tools, MIDI and Digital Music Production, Foley and Sound Analysis and Design.

Production Management – The School of Communication and Media is seeking qualified instructors for intermediate and advanced Production Management courses. Candidates should be skilled in budgeting, location scouting, union regulations, crews, scheduling resources and facilities and standard practices for
film and television production.

Post Production Instructor – The School of Communication and Media is seeking qualified instructors for intermediate and advanced Post Production courses. Candidates should be skilled in all Adobe Creative Suite applications.

Critical/Cultural Studies Instructors - The School of Communication and Media is seeking qualified instructors for advanced critical/cultural studies courses. Candidates should be scholars and/or researchers of the social, legal, political, historical and economic factors that influence contemporary media.

Media Criticism - The School of Communication and Media is seeking qualified instructors for media criticism courses. Candidates should have extensive knowledge and experience in analyzing and critiquing various forms of media including television, film, advertising and social media.

Documentary Production – The School of Communication and Media is seeking qualified instructors for documentary production courses. Candidates should have extensive knowledge and experience in producing, directing and editing documentary films across a range of styles and genres. They should be able to demonstrate research, creative, technical, critical thinking and project management skills.
Special Topics - The School of Communication and Media is seeking qualified instructors for special topics courses. Topics may include, but are not limited to the following:

~ Postmodern and Film Theory
~ The History of Cinema from the Silent Era to the Present
~ World Cinema: Perspectives from Different Cultures
~ Horror Film and the Evolution of Fear

~ The Business of Film and Television Production

The School of Communication and Media
Founded in 2012, School of Communication and Media offers a range of dynamic programs in communication and media—including degrees in advertising, animation and VFX, communication and media studies, film and television, journalism and digital media, social media and public relations, sports communication, an interdisciplinary degree in recording arts as well as an MA in public and organizational relations, The School houses several co-curricular programs, including WMSC Radio, the Montclarion newspaper, Hawk Communications Agency, the Red Hawk Sports Network, the NewsLab, PRSSA, Lambda Pi Eta, and a newly launched Center for Strategic Communications for social media and data analytics. The School has recently launched its own streaming platform, Hawk+, which allows students to gain hands on experience in the new landscape of media delivery. The School has received several prestigious national awards and nominations, including an Edward R. Murrow Award, several Marconi Award nominations, and a College Television Award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The School is home to the Center for Cooperative Media, which serves the public by helping to grow and strengthen local journalism. The School maintains signature industry partnerships and programs, including its summer residency with the Ghetto Film School and an emerging Los Angeles program for film and television students. The School is housed in a new, state-of-the-art teaching and production facility, and enrollment has grown by over 50% in the past five years, with expected continued expansion. These programs give the School’s over 1600 students the tools they need to succeed in the communication and media industry and helps to prepare and inform the next generation of leaders, critical
thinkers, and professionals.

Qualifications & Requirements
Instructors must have an advanced degree in their field of study (M.A. or MFA degree) or commensurate extensive professional experience and qualifications. Prior college-level teaching experience is preferred.

Salary Range
$1,705.00 per academic credit per semester (a 3-credit course is $5,115.00 and a 4-credit course is
$6,820.00).
