Job Description


The Clinical Specialist in Post Production will teach six courses (18 TCH) during each academic year and support a variety of media projects conducted by faculty, staff, and students of the School of Communication and Media. They will serve as an exceptional, student-centered instructor who helps students to build strong proficiencies in media post-production, particularly those in the School’s expansive Film & Television program (the largest major in the School).

The Clinical Specialist will teach introductory or advanced courses on post-production, editing for narrative film or TV, post production elements for television programming and other special topic courses related to one’s expertise. In addition to teaching, the Clinical Specialist will participate on the School of Communication and Media’s myriad media projects, often in close collaboration with faculty, staff, and students. Projects include organizational content (e.g., outreach), materials for community partners, items for distribution on the School’s streaming media platform Hawk+, student-produced journalism packages for the Montclair News Lab program, etc.

This is a 12-month position.


The successful candidate must have extensive professional post production experience spanning genres and contexts (e.g., film, episodic television, and other forms of entertainment programming). As well, they must have strong abilities for collaboration and a penchant for interacting productively with various people within the School of Communication and Media, across the Montclair State University campus, and with external organizational and community partners. Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Pro Tools, Photoshop, and After Effects) and Avid Media Composer is required. Teaching experience and a graduate-level degree in a discipline related to media creation are strongly preferred.
