Job Description

SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Director of the Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health, the Assistant Director for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation is responsible for coordinating and supervising the infant and early childhood mental health consultation initiatives of the Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health at MSU.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Create and enhance the systemic growth of the infant and early childhood mental health consultation system in the state.

  • Create and oversee the research supported IECMH consultation processes and protocols.

  • Provide consultation in research-supported infant and early childhood mental health and social/emotional supports and interventions.

  • Attend relevant policy and programming meetings regionally and nationally.

  • Conduct training in the Pyramid Model curriculum, the Keeping Babies and Children in Mind curriculum and other topics of social/emotional development.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with Regional Grow NJ Kids Technical Assistance Centers.

  • Develop relationships with other community partners.

  • Provide consultation and coaching to Grow NJ KIDS (GNJK) sites, in consultation with the SEFI leadership team and the Technical Assistance Centers, as needed.

  • Represent the CAECMH, CEHS and MSU when in the community setting.

  • Organize assigned work and develop appropriate methods for meeting goals and objectives.

  • Serve on standing and ad hoc committees of the CAECMH.

  • Attend and participate in CAECMH and SEFI team meetings as requested and required.

  • Prepare correspondence in the course of official duties.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS :

REQUIRED :
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in a mental health discipline or a field related to the position.

  • Minimum of five years of work experience in the field of infant and early childhood mental health.

  • Licensed as a mental health clinician (Ph.D., M.D., Psy.D., LPC, LICSW, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience as a consultant to the early relational health workforce on social/emotional and/or inclusion topics.

  • Demonstrated experience providing training in infant and early childhood mental health.

  • Knowledge of the early relational health system in New Jersey.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the theory, principles, and techniques essential to the infant/early childhood mental health/socioemotional development and/or developmental disabilities/inclusion fields.

  • Ability to work independently, manage a flexible schedule, travel throughout the state, create statewide relationships, analyze problems, and develop effective work methods.

PREFERRED :
  • Endorsed by the New Jersey Association for Infant Mental Health as an Infant Mental Health Clinical Mentor.

  • Bilingual Spanish-English speaker and presenter

  • Demonstrated excellence as a trainer of the topics of infant and early childhood mental health, social/emotional development, and/or developmental disabilities and inclusion.
