Job Description
SUMMARY :
Reporting to the Director of Community Action Nexus (uCAN), the uCAN Project Coordinator assists in the cultivation, development, and management of diverse and mutually beneficial community-university engaged projects with the goal of harnessing the collective strengths of the University’s academic, economic, and infrastructure resources. This position supports uCAN operations by assisting with administration, program coordination, partnership development, programmatic research and evaluation, marketing, and the creation of training materials and reports.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Identify and cultivate new partnerships between the university
and community organizations, government agencies, and
businesses.
- Develop and coordinate projects and events that promote
community engagement.
- Provide support to community partners, including technical
assistance, training, and resources.
- Track and report on the progress of uCAN partnerships and
projects.
- Prepare reports and presentations on the activities, impact,
and outcomes of uCAN.
- Represent the university at community events and
meetings.
- Maintain uCAN calendar, scheduling meetings, events, and
training.
- Attend and participate in meetings and committees and may take
minutes or notes and perform follow-up activities.
- Assist in developing or revising uCAN procedures, practices,
and forms.
- Oversee a comprehensive system for tracking uCAN data on
civic/community engagement.
- Manage software applications and data for uCAN, and develop
visuals/videos for presentations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any
time.
REQUIRED :
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, in
a related field, such as social work, community development, or
public administration.
- A minimum of three years of professional experience with
community engagement projects/programs in civic engagement, such as
service-learning, volunteer, or related field.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for community engagement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient working with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Interact comfortably and effectively with diverse communities
and individuals.
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Professional experience with budget management.
- Experience living and/or working in Paterson or some other
large city in New Jersey.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Solid working knowledge and understanding of the principles,
practices, methods, and techniques for designing and implementing
community and civic engagement programs.
- Solid working knowledge and understanding of on and off-line
community organizing principles, practices, and strategies.
- Experience with recruiting, selecting, assigning, utilizing,
and evaluating work of a large and diverse volunteer group.
- Experience with marketing and outreach for various
initiatives.
- Experiencing working with computer and web media applications,
including civic engagement technology.
