Reporting to the Senior Director, PMO Services, the Director, PMO Operations is responsible for delivering the day-to-day PMO operational activities, contributing to PMO policies and procedures, tracking and monitoring progress against the multi-year Information Technology Strategy, and delivering assigned strategic projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Assist the Senior Director, PMO Services in defining the principles by which all IT initiatives will be governed, and the roles and responsibilities of the major stakeholders.
  • Develop portfolio management processes, metrics and associated tools. Serve as an area Portfolio Manager to ensure that portfolios are aligned with enterprise and departmental objectives.
  • Document and maintain the Application/IT Enterprise Asset portfolios and business application roadmaps.
  • Research and analyze key business drivers, competitive environment, trends and operating metrics.
  • Assist in the development of project business cases and assess projects for technical fit, strategic fit, ROI, risk and other factors.
  • Assemble IT Governance Model and Steering Committee meeting materials.
  • Mitigate risk and ensure an effective control environment across: FERPA, HIPPA, IT Controls, NJ state, Federal and other regulations as related to higher education.
  • Survey the business units and/or Application Managers to assess/analyze IT opportunities against enterprise and business units’ strategic objectives.
  • Work closely with business units and Application Managers to translate business strategy into tactical activities and systems roadmaps.
  • Provide project management advice and assistance to administrative and academic units managing projects.
  • Provide project management services on larger project initiatives.
  • Manage project teams ranging from 10 to 30+ team members
  • Monitor and manage 3rd party vendor performance at a milestone level.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations and provide recommendations.
  • Compose effective communications that inform various stakeholders of the reasons for the change, the benefits of successful implementation as well as the details of the change.
  • Deliver continuous improvement and improved business results across the IT portfolio.
  • Provide enterprise updates on project portfolio performance and status.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in project/portfolio management and/or strategy development.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the areas of project delivery, strategic planning, and PMO Operations.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the university community.
PREFERRED:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency with various higher education administrative systems such Banner or Workday.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in higher education.
