Senior Lab/Research Technician - Dept. of Physiology and Biophysics

Position Summary:

The Department of Physiology and Biophysics are in search of a Senior Lab Technician to assist in the lab of Dr. Tseng.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Make mouse cardiac myocytes
  • Patch clamp mouse cardiac myocytes
  • Keep lab inventory including consumables, solutions, buffers, and reagents
  • Participate in acquisition and analysis of image data
  • Participate in Western blot experiments
Minimum Hiring Standards:
  • PhD or equivalent degree in biomedical science
  • At least 5 years of research experience in mouse heart physiology (including myocyte isolation, myocyte culture, myocyte patch clamp, and myocyte imaging)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Words, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Research experience in academic labs working on electrical properties of mouse cardiac myocytes, especially in the area of electrogenic ion transporters and exchangers
This is a restricted position with no set end date and continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.
