DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS

 University of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Kitts

Reporting to the President, the Director of Admissions (DA) is responsible for general process of recruiting, interviewing, and enrolling new students into the three medical school classes each year.  The DA's responsibility includes oversight of all geographically disbursed admissions staff within North America and direction of ongoing efforts to enhance our visibility including traveling as necessary throughout North America.  When not traveling, the DA works from the Corporate Office located in New York City.  The DA also contributes to the recruitment process which includes developing relationships with undergraduate faculty and pre-med advisors, making presentations to prospective students, attending graduate and professional school events on undergraduate campuses, and responding to inquiries from prospective students and parents.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Travels nationally and internationally on behalf of the University to meet with individuals and groups at information sessions and conferences on undergraduate campuses, and develops close working relationships with key advisors at colleges in the Northeast region of the U.S. Partners with the Director of Marketing in the continued evaluation and development of all forms of outreach including PowerPoint presentations, printed brochures, videos, web design, targeted email campaigns, etc. Develops and maintains a national recruitment plan and assist the President in creating budgets. Monitors progress toward meeting enrollment goals set by the President; assesses and facilitates conversion of accepted students on an ongoing basis with Associate Director of Enrollment Management. Maintains and executes the Admissions Communication Plan to prospective and admitted students. Conducts professional and challenging interviews of applicants to the UMHS School of Medicine and subsequently makes a recommendation on the candidate to the admissions committee. Supervises and manages the Admissions Office in New York and all regional offices and staff; takes a direct role in continuing education of the admissions team. Facilitates the applicant-decision making process in concert with the faculty admissions committee and President Develops and monitors statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, manage updated forecasting, and operation efficiency. Reviews and monitors the entire admissions process from inquiry to enrollment; accountable for driving improvements and modifications as necessary as the industry evolves. Leads the planning and execution of informational trips to the basic science campus in St. Kitts and pre-clinical semester in Maine for pre-med advisors and undergraduate faculty. Serves as a resource to internal department heads, providing reports on progress toward enrollment goals; coordinates with Financial Aid, Registrar, and Bursar as well as appropriate campus staff to facilitate the post-acceptance enrollment and registration processes. Serves as a resource to all prospective, admitted, and enrolled students; is knowledgeable about the University, its mission, history, curriculum, policies, campuses, and related information regarding student life and outcomes. Requires national and international travel; including travel to the campuses in St. Kitts, WI and Portland, ME. Completes any and all other projects as assigned by the President.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred 7-10 years’ prior admissions experience is necessary, with preference given to individuals who have experience leading recruitment for professional school programs. Demonstrated ability to work independently of direct daily management. Understanding of the medical school admissions and enrollment process. Strong presentation ability. Strong written ability.
