Job Description


The Nursing Simulation Lab Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the LSC-CF nursing simulation lab. This position is responsible to prepare and maintain simulation equipment, media, computers and materials related to simulation learning in various health care settings. Collaborates with nursing and other health occupations faculty in designing, planning, implementing and evaluating simulation education, and curriculum materials to support the student achievement of nursing program outcomes. Plans, implements, and evaluates clinical lab activities in accordance with program policies, course objectives and program outcomes. Serves as an expert resource to faculty in developing simulation in the classroom, and simulation lab. Works very closely with the Nursing Lab Coordinator on a daily basi s.

The Coordinator will promote an optimal learning environment and run simulation events as needed, provide assistance to students and faculty using simulation. The Coordinator will establish practices and procedures for simulation that provide for effective learning experiences and safe practice. The Coordinator ensures and maintains inventory of supplies to support all instructional simulation in the lab


  • Maintains simulation lab as a safe, dynamic learning environment for all participating students
  • Operates all simulation mannequins and equipment in a knowledgeable and safe manner. Ensures all simulation equipment is safe and operational
  • Collaborates with faculty and the lab coordinator in scheduling and planning simulation lab activities each semester
  • Liaison with other workforce/academic programs/departments to develop and implement interdisciplinary simulation scenarios
  • Provides lab coordinator with a list of supplies/equipment for each simulation no later than four working days prior to the simulation. Ensures all needed supplies and equipment are available at time of simulation activity
  • Maintains documentation of all acti vities in simulation lab (courses, hours, instructor s, number of students present, scenario s utilized)
  • Collaborates with Director to evaluate simulation activities and utilization and plans for long-term simulation needs and goals
  • Organizes, schedules & implements orientation and educational sessions for nursing and other healthcare faculty in relation to simulation activities
  • Provides orientation to simulation & simulation lab environment to new nursing faculty and other healthcare disciplines
  • Schedules & ensures regular preventive maintenance for simulation equipment completed
  • Develops and maintains an evidence-based reference library of simulation resources for faculty and students
  • Provides faculty with the relevant & current information regarding simulation in education
  • Serves as liaison between the simulation lab and other simulation labs as well as simulator manufacturers
  • Identifies grant/ funding opportunities to maintain a well-equipped simulation lab
  • Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

    • Proficient in advanced nursing skills. Some experience with the development of lesson plans and/or teaching scenarios a plus. Strong computer proficiency required.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

    The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for receiving equipment and supplies as well as for lab set up.


    The work may involves exposure to hazardous items such as chemicals, toxic or caustic materials, contamination, and electrical hazards. This exposure requires special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines; exposure to contagious diseases or irritant chemicals. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.

    • BSN and at least 2 years of clinical background and experience

    • MSN
    • Strong clinical background and experience.
    • Experience in the community college or nursing educational environment.
    • Experience with clinical simulation and scenario development

    Hourly Pay Rate is $16.40
