Position Summary:

The Administrative Systems Developer II position provides system development, operational and technical support, systems analysis, project management, reporting, planning, and training, for multiple areas of the campus administrative software systems, including Ellucian Banner and Workday. The position works in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with other team members, IT staff, and a user community that includes campus staff, faculty, and students. The position assumes responsibility for all phases of software development life-cycle, including systems analysis, development, testing, implementation, and break/fix resolution by establishing tasks, goals, and priorities.

Job Description:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Systems Development
    • Responsible for enhancements, maintenance, modifications and/or integration to the administrative software
    • Follow established coding standards and processes in place for the team and contribute to their refinement
    • Establish and maintain both technical and functional documentation
  • System Analysis
    • Coordinate with customers and stakeholders to capture requirements for system change requests/enhancements
    • Communicate process changes, enhancements, and modifications – verbally or through written documentation – to management, peers, staff, and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood
    • Assist in conducting research on software and hardware products to support purchasing efforts
  • Project Management
    • Function as the Project Manager on designated projects
    • Develop and maintain Project Requirements, Project Charters, and/or other project documents on designated projects when necessary
  • Training
    • Design and develop written and on-line training materials for end users to support new or improved products or processes
    • Assist functional areas in delivering training to appropriate end users for new or improved processes
    • Complete ongoing personal professional development to improve skills and expertise
    • Assist/train Administrative Systems Developers on the College’s administrative software systems when necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, computer information systems, information management, or related discipline
  • Three to five years of professional experience in the Information Systems field, including providing technical support and programming for an ERP
  • A combination of Information Systems experience in providing support for an ERP may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the Bachelor’s degree only
  • Ability to analyze business and technical requirements, utilize project management skills, and prepare and present technical documentation in a user-friendly format
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate with team members as needed
  • Experience with XML and XSLT
  • Experience with Java, Python or similar modern programming language
  • Experience working with Git version control system
Preferred Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:
  • Experience supporting SaaS/Cloud-based applications and associated integrations
  • Experience with web service operations (REST/SOAP)
  • Experience with SQL programming language
  • Experience working with Oracle relational database systems including programming in PL/SQL
  • Experience working with Microsoft relational database systems including programming in Transact-SQL
  • Experience with web application development using Java, Groovy/Grails, Microsoft.Net, XML, HTML, CSS, and/or Java Script/jQuery
  • Experience supporting Workday
  • Experience supporting Ellucian Banner
  • Practical knowledge in the use of reporting software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flowcharts
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, and oral communication skills
  • Able to exercise independent judgement and take action on it
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $59,500 to $66,000, per year, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
