Salary Basis: 12 month
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Finance & Administration, the Director of Facilities Operations is directly responsible for providing leadership and representation for the Facilities Management Department; coordinating the hiring, training, and assignment of work and evaluating the performance of Facility Maintenance staff; developing short and long-term plans for maintenance projects; developing and monitoring departmental project budgets; preparing various internal and external reports; providing documents to comply with requirements of the Mississippi Institute of Higher Learning, Bureau of Buildings and other outside agencies; serving as the University's primary liaison with external contractors; keeping the Associate VP for Finance & Administration abreast of project issues and concerns; and performing other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, planning, management, or related field; ten years of relevant major construction and facility maintenance experience; experience in planning and design; effective written and oral communication skills; proven experience with fiscal planning; and basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree; professional licensed architect or engineer; experience in a public higher education environment; proven leadership/team building skills; business and organizational skills; analytical and troubleshooting skills; experience coordinating emergency planning; at least five years of large group management experience including hiring, training, and evaluating staff; project management or work prioritizing skills; demonstrated ability to maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with internal and external constituents, contractors, and community partners; and a commitment to equal opportunity.
