Job Summary

The Tutor III for Arts, Digital Media and Communications is an active participant in the CLC Tutoring Center, coaching students in selected subjects as well as in study and technology skills as needed. The Tutor participates in staff development opportunities, contributes to center projects, and helps promote the center within the CLC community.

Required Qualification(s)
  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher OR an Associate’s degree with four (4) semesters experience as a Tutor II and the recommendation of the Tutoring Center Coordinator(s).
  2. Proficiency in subject(s) to be tutored.
  3. Ability to tutor in multiple modalities (face-to-face and online).
  4. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  5. Ability to assess student learning needs and determine appropriate learning strategies.


Desired Qualification(s)
  1. Previous Tutoring Center experience.
  2. Proficient in MS Office.
  3. Willingness to work at multiple campus locations (Lakeshore, Southlake, Grayslake).
  4. Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Summary of Essential Functions
  1. Tutor CLC students in selected arts and humanities disciplines including writing and world languages and/or other subjects as needed.
  2. Tutor in multiple modalities (face to face and online).
  3. Recommend appropriate learning strategies in basic skills.
  4. Present class orientations describing center services.
  5. Demonstrate software skills as needed.
  6. Lead study groups as needed.
  7. Refer students to support services when appropriate.
  8. Document tutoring sessions and complete other required reporting.
  9. Participate in staff development opportunities and in the tutor evaluation process.
  10. Participate in center projects as assigned.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
