Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW) School of Polytechnic invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor/Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice in Industrial Engineering beginning January 2, 2023 through the Spring 2025 semester (3 semesters total). The position is 100% teaching (4/4 workload) at the undergraduate/graduate level with no advising or service requirement.
A Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline will be considered as a Visiting Assistant Professor. Candidates with a master’s degree and broad industrial experience will be considered for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice. Applicants must be able to teach at the undergraduate/graduate level in a variety of foundational courses and potential courses matching the candidate’s expertise. Areas of instructional interest would include production planning control, ergonomics, statistical production planning, supply chain, and statistics. Applicants should possess at least 3 years of relevant industrial experience and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates should enjoy working closely with students, thrive in a small experiential classroom setting and anticipate opportunity to collaborate with the community to improve the program. Position is contingent upon available funding and satisfactory background check.
The School of Polytechnic has majors in six-degree programs which include Computer, Electrical, Industrial and Mechanical Engineering Technology along with Information Technology and Construction Management. All the Engineering Technology programs are accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www,abet.org. The student educational experience produces graduates who not only have profound technical knowledge, an ability to apply principles, and experiences relevant in their discipline but they can also problem solve, think critically, innovate, and communicate.
