Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Development, the Assistant Director of Strategic Initiatives will support the fundraising efforts of the DMSB development office through project management on large scale initiatives such as the DMSB 100th Anniversary $100M campaign that will take place over the next five years, cultivation and engagement of DMSB boards, management of the DMSB administrative support staff, and other special projects as they arise. The Assistant Director will also act as a liaison between the DMSB Development office and the boards the support DMSB to help drive strategic relationships and soliciations forward. This position includes the daily management of one support staff position.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management: Oversee and coordinate internal and external elements of the DMSB 100th Anniversary Campaign to raise $100M over five years. Track progress, anticipate needs, and drive next steps to keep the campaign strategy and development team moving forward. This will include working with colleagues within the College, in Advancement, throughout the university, and externally to ensure effective, high-quality, and timely execution of projects and events related to the 100th Anniversary Campaign including, but not limited to, managing the DMSB internal Steering Committee, coordinating DMSB “Road Show” for Dean/Faculty/Students to engage top prospects around the world, supporting the 100th Anniversary “Leadership Circle” (top donors to the campaign), liaise with the university events team on the 100th Anniversary Gala Event.

Relationship Management: Act as liaison between the DMSB Development office and the boards that support DMSB, including the Board of Visitors, Dean's Executive Council and the Center for Emerging Markets Steering Committee to help drive strategic relationships and solicitations forward.

Management of DMSB Administrative Staff: Manage and grow capabilities of the DMSB administrative support staff person to ensure that they are able to support and elevate the work of the DMSB development team.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes and qualifications:
  • 4-6 years of professional work experience; with preference given to someone who has worked in advancement and higher education environment.
  • An appreciation and understanding of the mission of Northeastern University; demonstrated commitment to and experience in higher education
  • Superior communication skills - the ability to understand and convey University programs, priorities and issues to a wide variety of audiences; and the ability to communicate effectively with internal colleagues on the DMSB Development team as well as internal partners across the university
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the D'Amore-McKim School of Business Advancement team
  • Some evening and weekend work required
  • BA/BS degree required, and masters preferred
  • An affirming, positive, motivational, entrepreneurial style
  • Strong personal work ethic, self-motivated and results-oriented


The Assistant Director of Strategic Initiatives must possess an extraordinary level of professionalism at all times.
