This faculty position is in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, Biostatistics & Medical Epidemiology, within the School of Medicine and is open to applicants at all ranks on the tenure/tenure track or non-tenure track, focused on Informatics and Health Services Research.

The department seeks highly motivated individuals with a passion for scientific discovery, improving healthcare, and informatics, as well as a history of federal funding or major foundation funding, and population health research and/or implementation science expertise that aligns with our research foci and the SOM and Precision Health priorities. Be part of a rapidly growing team developing informatics to further research and serving a dynamic community of researchers across the University of Missouri.

Responsibilities will include leveraging EHR data to investigate quality, health outcomes. The position is expected to support 1-2 graduate students or a Post-Doctorial Fellow on startup funds, establish NIH funding within 3 years or bring existing NIH funding, and teach in MSc/PhD programs; in addition, the position is expected to engage in collaborative research with other faculty from programs and departments within the University and with senior leadership from affiliate organizations such as the Tiger Institute, Oracle Health/Cerner Corporation, Truman VA Hospital, University Health Truman Medical Center, and the State of Missouri. Two-to-five-year goal to build a strong health services research program strongly oriented to clinical practice with links to T3/T4 projects.


Minimum Qualifications: PhD or D-PhD

Candidates will be evaluated on:

-Existing NIH funding

-History of collaboration with the Department of Biomedical Informatics, Biostatistics and Medical Epidemiology

-EHR experience

-Oracle Cerner experience

-Electronic Clinical Decision Support experience– creating, evaluating, and analyzing

-History of multi-disciplinary, multi-departmental work – collaborating across departments

-Focus on patient-generated health data

-Experience in DEI and patient engagement

-Working with health system to combine research and policy

The Department of Biomedical Informatics, Biostatistics and Medical Epidemiology (BBME) at the University of Missouri School of Medicine is a leader in health informatics education, research and service.

The department offers a master's degree in health informatics (MS), as well as graduate certificates in healthcare project management, health ethics, and health informatics. Students may pursue master's degrees on campus through our residential program or primarily online through our executive program for working professionals.

Our faculty members research and develop methods for monitoring population health. BBME researchers continue to secure federal, state, and foundation funding to pursue their work, and health outcomes and information research is one of the top areas of strength at the MU School of Medicine. Because of our faculty member's expertise and the strength of our projects and centers, research collaborators regularly call on our faculty members for strategic partnerships.
