Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Associate Director for Facilities, the Facility Coordinator is responsible for overall supervision and administration of Campus Recreation Center daily operations. Responsibilities include:
Supervision of evening and weekend operations of the Campus Recreation Center, Supervision and development of 60 student staff members, Coordination of overall facility operations. Primary Responsibilities
Facility Management

-Supervise daily operations of Campus Recreation Center to include: Facility entry; equipment inventory and check-out; facility set-ups (including nights and weekends); weight/strength & conditioning rooms, totaling over 169,000 sq. ft.

-Supervise management and upkeep of Campus Recreation Bouldering Wall to include: waiver and acknowledgement of risk process, staff enforcement of safety procedures, and bolt, hold, and mat maintenance.

-Responsible for coordinating annual inspections for facility elements, specifically Bouldering Wall interior and exterior structural integrity.

-Implement and train staff on appropriate risk management plans for Campus Recreation Center operations. Coordinate Emergency Action Plans while on duty.

-Manage activities on Campus Recreation Center daily schedule. Ensure that facility spaces are properly set up for classes and programs by communicating set up needs to facility managers -Resolve patron facility use issues through quality customer service and conflict resolution -Provide onsite supervision for special events. Assist reservation groups with access, set up, and utilization of facility -Coordinate maintenance activities while on duty. Submit maintenance requests in coordination with Associate Director for Facilities

-Responsible for ensuring proper daily cleaning of activity spaces and equipment is completed -Responsible for ensuring cleaning/laundry protocols are established and followed -Interact with facility users to enhance quality customer service and enforce policies and procedures relating to equipment and facility use. -Assist with assessing programs and services by collecting data relating to program operations, participation numbers, and participant satisfaction and learning. Identify trends and concerns. Implement improvements in programs and services based on analysis of data.

Personnel Administration

-Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate over 70+ facility student employees in the roles of Facility Attendant, Facility Manager, and Bouldering Wall Staff

-Create and manage student employee work schedules for open recreation hours

-Ensure appropriate staffing for all hours of operation

-Schedule appropriate personnel for outside of hours events

-Delegate staffing and supervision of special events to facility Mangers with set up and schedule information

-Create, encourage, and support professional development opportunities for student staff including training programs, professional association involvement, research, conferences, and individual mentoring

Fiscal Management

-Complete payroll and administrative procedures for 70+ facility employees following university and departmental guidelines

-Budget over $200,000 in student employee payroll over the course of the fiscal year

-Accurately record facility operations expenditures on departmental logs

-Maintain inventory of loose equipment and place timely orders to keep equipment issue supplies stocked

-Research the purchase of equipment and supplies

-Seek out opportunities to expand departmental revenues

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sport Management, Student Personnel or related degree required.

American Red Cross CPR /First Aid/ AED, Instructor certification preferred or ability to obtain within first six months of employment

Minimum 3 years experience working in university recreation facilities

Minimum 2 years experience supervising student employees

Experience with supervising special events. Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree Preferred Education Master's Degree Minimum Experience 2 years Salary Minimum $17.63/hr annualized to $34,376 Pay Grade S67
