York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.   

Reporting to the Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, the Assistant Vice President for Academic Administration provides direct management and leadership of critical academic infrastructure functions to ensure operational effectiveness and efficiency. The position oversees the Academic Records team and is responsible for managing critical college functions including state reporting, academic calendar and course scheduling, curriculum and catalog management systems and process, and other strategic projects as directed.

Administrative Leadership & Oversight

  • Provides direct oversight and management of Registrar’s Office staff and all registration and student record functions of the college. Leads in the evaluation of academic polices and processes to support student success and improve the customer service experience for all campus stakeholders. Develops institutional and departmental goals for areas of responsibility in partnership with Executive Vice President, academic leadership, Registrar, and Academic Records staff. Manages enterprise level systems in support of admissions, advising, registration and degree conferral. Works in collaboration with Information Services (IS) to support integration of the SIS with other systems. Addresses and resolves student issues and/or concerns that escalate to the Academic Administration office.

Curriculum Management

  • Facilitates and manages the institutional curriculum review and approval process. Oversees the curriculum management system and provides training to academic leadership. Collaborates with academic units to ensure accreditation standards and institutional policies are followed during curriculum development. Ensures adherence to curriculum workflows, curriculum cycle timelines and review processes for internal and external constituents as required by federal, state and accrediting agencies. Builds new courses and provides course maintenance according to state requirements and Catalog of Approved Courses (CAC) for the South Carolina Technical College System. Builds new curriculum and maintains curriculum changes via the Student Information System (SIS). Assists in assessment of academic programs and collaborates with division leadership to evaluate program viability.

Course Scheduling Oversite and Management

  • Oversees development and execution of course schedule. Oversees and coordinates academic calendar for institution and serves as chair of the Academic Calendar committee. Works with division and departmental leadership on course scheduling timelines. Provides management of course scheduling processes including policies, systems and accreditation standards. Responsible for deployment, training and troubleshooting of scheduling software. Stewards the development and adherence to scheduling grid for academic units and space management. Compiles and analyzes data trends and space allocation for academic schedules utilizing institutional scheduling and reporting systems. Provides strategic leadership and effective administration of all scheduling components to advance the mission of the College.

Management of State Reporting

  • Submits institutional reports through South Carolina Technical College Enterprise Decision Support System (EDSS) in coordination with other offices (e.g., Financial Aid, Business Services, Information Services, Institutional Effectiveness). Troubleshoots and resolves all reporting errors. Works with academic divisions to review and update extract errors in SIS. Updates other state reporting systems as necessary.

Catalog Management

  • Oversees the catalog management system and provides system training for end users.  Coordinates and facilitates the annual review process for the student handbook and college catalog. Manages catalog development including revisions, approvals and publishing. Works collaboratively with key constitutes and departmental leaders to ensure relevant policies and procedures are current and benchmarked to national best practices. Ensures content alignment of curriculum and course catalog.
