The Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Athletic Training at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2024. This position is open to candidates with a focused research agenda. Primary teaching assignments will include courses in the accredited Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) and the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree programs.

Position
CSUF faculty are committed teacher/scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms, labs, studios, and individually mentored projects. They teach broadly in the curricula of their departments, advise students, and serve on departmental and university-wide committees. The primary responsibilities of the person in this position will include teaching Athletic Training courses in their area(s) of content expertise, as well as undergraduate courses in the Kinesiology Pre-Allied Health concentration. This person will also be responsible for producing scholarship commensurate with the requirements for tenure. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department and the MSAT program, mentor graduate students, serve on committees, and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities.

Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Athletic Training, or related field by the time of appointment;
  • Certified athletic trainer in good standing with the Board of Certification, Inc.;
  • Demonstrated contemporary expertise in athletic training;
  • Previous clinical practice in athletic training;
  • Demonstrated ability/potential to provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate education to a diverse student population, including first‐generation college students;
  • Record of high-quality scholarship in a focused research area related to athletic training; and
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and/or service.

    Preferred Qualifications
    The Department is particularly interested in candidates with:
  • Experience teaching in an accredited athletic training program
  • Experience as core faculty in an accredited athletic training program

    Compensation
    The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $5,405 to $11,994 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $6,345 to $6,477 per month.

    Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work (https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/california_equal_pay_act.htm).

    Summer research grants, moving expenses, start‐up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.
