Required qualifications include a master’s degree in physical
education (or arelated field) and deep knowledge of physical
education teaching principles.

education activity courses.

The Department of Recreation Management & Physical Education (
RMPE ) is committed to providing students with a wide variety of
physical education activity courses. The Department seeks someone
with a broad range of teaching experience.
Description of the Department or Unit
The RMPE department is comprised of Recreation Management, Health,
Physical Education, & Coaching, and Physical Education Activity
programs. The Physical Education Activity ( PEA ) program offers a
wide variety of activity courses to meet students’ interests as
part of Appalachian’s General Education program. For more

Appalachian State University’s Beaver College of Health Sciences (
BCHS ) is transforming the health and quality of life for the

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include teaching physical education activity
courses, supervision of on-campus, field-based, student teaching
experiences, and participation in university and professional

include the opportunity to teach physical education teacher
education major courses.
