Job Details
The University of North Alabama’s Anderson College of Nursing & Health Professions invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level. This position will also serve as Program Director and will coordinate and develop a new occupational therapy program per the Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) Standards.
The essential duties of this position will include management and administration of the program and writing policies, developing courses, and teaching various occupational therapy courses, including didactic and clinical. Additional responsibilities will include advising program students; maintaining office hours; serving on committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program; participating in appropriate professional development activities; participating in scholarly activities and departmental/individual research; participating in service to the university and the community; and instructing and assisting in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methods, and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions.
The minimum qualifications for this position include:
- A Master’s degree in occupational therapy or a related field that is accredited by a USDE-recognized institution is required;
- Doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field that is accredited by a USDE-recognized institution is preferred;
- Four years of teaching experience in an accredited Occupational Therapy program at the postsecondary level is required;
- Eight years of clinical experience in the field of occupational therapy is required;
- Two years of administrative experience in an accredited Occupational Therapy program is required;
- Current occupational therapist credential by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is required;
- Understanding of Occupational Therapy Assistant as well as Occupational Therapy practice;
- Currently certified and licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Alabama in Occupational Therapy.
