Lecturer in East Asian Studies
The Department of East Asian Studies invites applications for a one-semester, part-time Lecturer position during spring 2024 to teach an undergraduate-level course, HIS 208 / EAS 208 East Asia since 1800. The course is an introduction to the history of modern East Asia, examining the inter-related histories of China, Japan, and Korea since 1800 and their relationships with the wider world. This is a team-taught course and we are looking for a specialist in either China or Korea. Of particular interest is a teacher /Ph.D. who is well versed on the following topics: trade and cultural exchanges, reform and revolutions, war, colonialism, imperialism, and Cold War geopolitics. Teaching will be conducted in-person only.
We seek candidates with a minimum requirement of a Ph.D. degree in History or East Asian Studies.
