Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of the Counseling Center, this individual is responsible for providing (clinical) mental health services to the student population. This includes providing clinical mental health counseling in both an individual and group setting, while consulting with faculty, staff, and administration about mental health topics (i.e., emotional and sexual health) and crisis intervention—particularly post-pandemic/COVID-19. In addition, the Professional Counselor will participate in developing proactive mental health and wellness programming for the entire student population. The Professional Counselor will also provide consultation to students for purposes of referral; follow-up with students to facilitate continuity of care; coordinate care and services for students with university departments and offices as appropriate, serve as a liaison to community mental health providers and services and develop and maintain a database of referral resources and services.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field required; licensed preferred. Three or more years of work experience in the field of social services. Demonstrable multicultural competence. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other software packages. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse environment. Proven record of successful educational outreach and program delivery. Excellent organizational, communication, collaboration, consensus-building and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of community resources.
