Astronomy Outreach Assistant, Physical Sciences, Part-Time

Schedule Information : Works with pre-college students and members of the general public at the open observing sessions hosted at the Henize Observatory (on Friday or Saturdays nights from March through November).

Hours Per Week : 10

Work Conditions : Work is outside from March through November. Work involves climbing a ladder. Work may involve lifting equipment up to 60 lbs.

Duties of Position : Works with pre-college students and members of the general public at the open observing sessions hosted at the Henize Observatory (on Friday or Saturdays nights from March through November).

Operates astronomical telescopes.

Explains astronomical phenomena to observatory visitors.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements : Completion of at least one college level astronomy class or concurrent enrollment with faculty recommendation.

Experience Requirements : Knowledge of astronomy is required. Hands-on experience in the use of telescopes is desirable.
