Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Position : Adjunct Lecturer

Department : Biological Sciences

Classification : Part-time, Non-benefit eligible

Brief overview of duties :

The Department of Biological Sciences seeks to hire several adjunct instructors for the following courses on our Lisle, IL and Mesa, AZ campuses:
Anatomy and Physiology at the 3000-level to students who are primarily in the Health Science BS program and at the 1000-level to students in related programs such as nutrition. The courses are offered in an online format. (Mesa campus)

Required Qualifications:

Qualifications: Graduate degree in Life Sciences with knowledge and experience in teaching human anatomy and physiology. The candidate should possess the quality to work well with others as we are seeking an instructor for a team-taught course.
Principles of Biology and Principles of Organismal Biology lecture and lab courses in in-person and online formats. (Lisle and Mesa campuses)

Qualifications: Graduate degree in Biology or a closely-related discipline required. The candidate should possess the quality to work well with others as we are seeking an instructor for a team-taught course.

Great Ideas In Biology and Medicine to upper-level students in in-person and online formats (Lisle and Mesa campuses)

Qualifications: Graduate degree in Biology or a closely-related discipline required. The candidate should possess the quality to work well with others as we are seeking an instructor for a team-taught course. Experience with teaching writing is preferred, as this is a writing-intensive course.

Doctoral or Master’s degree and experience in relevant area required.

Candidates who are offered an adjunct faculty position at Benedictine University must present their Official Transcripts and Curriculum Vitae (CV) in order to be considered for the position. These items must be presented to Human Resources before the position starts.

Physical Requirements : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Use of computer screen, phone and customer service.
May require bending, or sitting for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Training : As a University employee you are required to complete all University-specific and/or OSHA related training to fulfill your job duties. Specific training will be conducted online or in person. Employees must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.
