The Commons Associate - Sanitation position provides front line
dish room and janitorial support for the Bates dining program which
serves approximately 5,000 meals per day to the students, faculty,
staff, and guests of the college. This position is responsible for
following food safety and sanitation procedures as well as
demonstrating positive relationships with individuals and groups
with varying backgrounds, perspectives, education and skills.
Ability to work as part of a dynamic team who embraces
communication and inclusiveness is essential to the candidates’
success. Exemplary organizational and time management skills,
outstanding customer service skills and attention to detail are a
- Performs dish room tasks which include loading and unloading,
scrime line, and cleaning of silver.
- Performs janitorial tasks which include cleaning bathrooms,
sweeping and mopping floors, dusting, cleaning windows and mats, as
well as recycling and trash room maintenance.
