Job Summary

Auburn University Outreach is excited to begin the search for a Development Officer! The Development Officer will plan, organize and implement fund-raising activities.

Essential Functions
  • Maintains database of local, state and national corporate and individual donors with missions well-suited to support Outreach programs and activities.
  • Develops and cultivates relationships with all local, state and national corporate and individual potential sponsors identified through the Outreach donor base.
  • Formulates and implements an Outreach model for soliciting financial, in-kind and material gifts through varied means of communication to include virtual meetings, in-person meetings, mail-outs, social media and mass media.
  • Serves as Outreach designee to express gratitude for all contributions by letter, phone call, and/or participating in/attending and hosting events and functions for donors.
  • Supports the Director of Corporate and Community Partnerships in coordinating annual strategic planning for unit advancement.
  • Prepares and presents a quarterly report of development activities to the VP and AVP of University Outreach in collaboration with unit directors. Consolidates reports annually.
  • Prepares and manages budget with input provided by the Director. Reviews and approves financial records, vouchers and acquisitions.
  • Develops reports, records, and programs and analyzes information necessary to plan and complete projects and assignments.
  • Supports Outreach directors in developing campaigns and/or presentation proposals related to funding priorities in order to keep top prospects informed, interested, involved and to meet development goals and objectives.
  • Assists directors in producing marketing materials to support development efforts.
Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Level I - Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, and/or public relations.

Level II - Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, and/or public relations.

Level III - Bachelor’s degree plus 6 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, and/or public relations.

  • Previous fundraising experience with an emphasis on building a portfolio of donors or clients and closing gifts or completing a sales cycle.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize complex projects and plans to deliver results.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with a diverse client base.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the university, the mission of the foundation and assigned college/unit.
