Job Description

Jack Strandberg/Missouri Endowed Chair of Piano

This is a faculty endowed chair position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Music Division. Applicants should be eligible for tenure or tenure-track at rank. This faculty member's workload responsibilities and duties will include:

· teach all applied piano levels and chamber music to undergraduate and graduate students;

· maintain a nationally and internationally prominent performance/research career; contribute to the enhancement of all facets of the Keyboard Studies Division;

· contribute to the academic and service environments characteristic of a conservatory within a university; and

· enrich the cultural environment of the Kansas City metropolitan community.

The applicant's CV and cover letter should demonstrate a multi-faceted approach to pedagogy and creative activities that impacts a global constituency.

Minimum Qualifications

· Demonstrated highly successful experience teaching piano in a university setting (minimum 5 years preferred);

· Strong evidence of the ability to recruit and retain excellent students of all levels (BA, BM, MM, DMA); record of national or international scholarly/creative activity;

· Doctoral degree in piano performance or equivalent professional experience;

· Eligibility for tenure or tenure-track at the appropriate rank.

Full Time/Part Time

Full-time, 9-month faculty position to begin in Fall 2024. The position is tenure-eligible, ranked and eligible for benefits.

Salary

Highly competitive, commensurate with credentials, qualifications and experience. Range: $70,000-$100,000 per academic year.
