SALARY:

A $1,000 bonus after 90 days. RVU's full compensation structure provides a minimum to a maximum range. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.

Primary Purpose

The Facilities & Grounds Sr. Technician, under the general direction of the Manager of Facilities & Grounds, is responsible for the planning, coordination, oversight, operation and maintenance of RVU's Facilities & Grounds on the Rocky Vista University Montana Campus. This position will work closely with and provide support for the Manager of Facilities & Grounds. The Sr. Technician will provide necessary mentoring and training to the Technicians in the department. The Sr. Technician will perform maintenance work on the building, equipment, and the premises of the Campus. This position requires documenting assigned work tasks and taking part in scheduling and performing maintenance activities. The workload will include maintenance, special event logistics, and requests from other departments. Workload prioritization is essential. In case there is a need for specialized labor, the Sr. Technician will work with the Manager of Facilities and Grounds to procure an appropriate Contractor. The Sr. Technician will supervise hired Contractors while on site, ensuring the accuracy and quality of the scope of work, while also ensuring all safety standards are met.

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all Facilities & Grounds equipment as needed.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on all Facilities & Grounds equipment as needed.
  • Assists in identifying and maintaining critical spares and consumables inventory.
  • Works with Contractors, Vendors, Staff and Faculty to support all Facilities & Grounds.
  • Assists to coordinate the overall planning and decision-making for maintaining the safety, utility and appearance of RVU.
  • Keeps records of inspections, service, repairs and maintenance of all safety systems within RVU, ensuring all Federal, State, and Local compliance is met.
  • Assists in creating a schedule or timetable of work to be performed in the facility.
  • Makes recommendations for improvements associated with the Contracted staff.
  • Assists in overseeing the work of outside Contractors and Vendors, like HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Janitorial, Landscaping, etc.
  • Monitors and maintains the HVAC Building Management System. (BMS)
  • Submits requests to the Manager of Facilities & Grounds for deferred maintenance projects.
  • Assists the Manager and all Technicians in developing and maintaining a plan for 24-7 coverage relating to building usage, janitorial, grounds, maintenance, safety and emergencies.
  • Ensures operation, and upkeep of all vehicles and equipment owned by RVU.
  • Assists all Technicians in the usage of facilities by RVU personnel/groups and organizations within the University. (set-ups, teardowns, and clean-up)
  • Oversees landscaping issues and projects.
  • Help build a culture that respects, values, and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Marginal Job Functions

  • Assist administration, faculty and staff in special projects as needed.
  • Continue education programs through electrical vendors, keeping RVU up to code standards related to electrical needs currently and in the future.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Solid understanding of Facilities equipment and Grounds, including Snow Removal.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, engineering drawings, manuals, and interpret specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel,)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with others, inside and outside of RVU.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of Facilities Maintenance experience, or equivalent industry experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or some college
  • Certified or experienced in multiple Trades, like HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Drywall & Paint, Landscaping, or Structural.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project or other Project Management Software.
