CSUF faculty are committed teachers and scholars who bring research
and creative discovery to students in classrooms, labs, and
individually mentored projects. Responsibilities of this position
include (a) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in
speech-language pathology in their expertise area(s); (b) engaging
in a systematic program of scholarly research; (c) actively
participating in faculty governance that includes engaging in
activities that support an equitable and inclusive environment for
colleagues and students; (d) serving on department, college, and
university committees; (e) developing and improving instructional
curriculum; and (f) providing academic advisement to students.
Specific courses that the successful candidate will be expected to
teach include COMD 542, Graduate Seminar in Neurogenic and Clinical
Aspects of Speech, Language, and Cognition; COMD 543, Graduate
Seminar in Dysphagia; and COMD 544, Graduate Seminar in Neurogenic
Speech, Language, and Cognitive Disorders.
- Doctorate in communication sciences and
disorders/speech-language pathology with an emphasis in adult
neurogenic and swallowing disorders. Strong candidates in other
areas of related expertise will be considered. ABDs will be
considered but must have doctorate completed before the appointment

The College and Department
The Department of
Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of
Communications was established in Fall 2017. Prior to becoming a
department, it was the Communicative Disorders Program in the
Department of Human Communication Studies. We have been accredited
by the Council on Academic Programs in audiology and
speech-language pathology since 1971. We have a large undergraduate
program with approximately 500 majors with a diverse group of
students. The graduate program became a cohort model in 2019 and
admits 30 students annually.
Currently we have 7 tenure-track faculty members with various
expertise, one full-time lecturer, and one full-time director of
the Speech and Hearing Clinic.
The Assistant Professor
(Academic Year) classification salary range is $5,405 to $11,994
monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated
hiring range for this position is $6,463to $6,588 per month (12
monthly payments per academic year).
Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
