Description

The Flagler College Natural Sciences Department is looking for a dynamic part time instructor to teach multiple sections of our general education, undergraduate, lab and lecture course in Introductory Environmental Sciences at our campus in downtown St. Augustine starting Fall of 2022. Our general education program is designed such that each introductory environmental science section will be integrated with one of our core values: Transformative Learning, Respectful and Inclusive Community, Citizenship with Integrity, and Thoughtful Stewardship. https://www.flagler.edu/about-flagler/mission-and-values/ We have developed syllabi for each of these versions of the course; where different case studies, readings, and projects are used to illustrate the core values. Instructors are also welcome to develop their own ideas, provided they meet the learning outcomes. We welcome applicants with an enthusiasm for teaching environmental courses from these perspectives.

Qualifications

Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in teaching subject. In exceptional cases, outstanding professional experience and demonstrated contributions to the teaching discipline may be presented in lieu of formal academic preparation. Such cases must be justified by the institution on an individual basis.

• Previous teaching experience preferred but not required.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit good judgment in making decisions concurrent with college policy.

Candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, effective communication skills, and the ability to work effectively and productively with students.
