Job Description

A Research Specialist position is available in the Soybean Genetics and Genomics Laboratory at the University of Missouri.

The primary responsibilities of this position will be:
  • Conducting root system architecture research in the greenhouse and field conditions.
  • Management of soybean seed stocks.
  • Assistance in molecular studies of root-related genes.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will be required to maintain a detailed laboratory notebook to record all experimental data information. Other duties will include assisting with supervision of undergraduate students and help with the daily operation of the lab. Applicants should have a B.S. degree in biology or plant science. Candidates with an advanced degree (M.S.) and plant research experience are preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative research environment are essential.

Salary

Salary: $16.23 to $28.25 per hour. Commensurate with experience.

Grade: GGS-007

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in biology, plant science, or a closely related degree. Candidates with an advanced degree (M.S.) and field research experience along with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative research environment are preferred.
