Special Education Open Rank Faculty Position in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
The University of New Mexico, College of Education and Human Sciences, Department of Special Education, invites applications for an Open Rank Faculty position in Special Education, with experience and expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Special Education, Educational Psychology or closely related field by August 2024
- Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D)
- Minimum one year experience providing behavior analytic services as a BCBA.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Robust and up-to-date formal academic preparation in (a) ABA principles, strategies, and ethical practice; (b) special education and/or working with individuals with disabilities; and (c) working with individuals from historically marginalized communities. Extensive experience in behavior analytic work in school, community, and/or clinical settings with individuals with disabilities, including experience working with individuals from historically marginalized communities and those with a wide range of behavioral support needs. Excellence or potential for excellence in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the area of ABA. Prior experience supervising students in ABA Field Experience/Practicum placements or other related experiences. Prior experience working in or coordinating a university ABAI Verified Course Sequence (VCS) or accredited training program in ABA.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to (a) teach courses in ABA and related areas, (b) provide direct supervision to students completing their ABA Field Experience/Practicum, and (c) conduct scholarly work related to ABA in a Special Education Department. The new faculty member will collaborate with colleagues and be a part of the cutting edge Special Education Department. In addition, the successful candidate will advise undergraduate and graduate students, serve on certificate and dissertation committees, contribute to or oversee the coordination of the ABAI Verified Course Sequence (VCS) program depending on experience level, and maintain an active research agenda. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to diversity through their teaching, research, and service. Successful candidates must be committed to working with broadly diverse student and community populations.
