Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology in Developmental Sciences

 The Department of Educational Psychology seeks applications from individuals with research interests in Developmental Sciences, especially those with interests at the intersection of Developmental Sciences and Counseling Psychology, focusing on adolescence and/or adult development, for one full-time, nine-month tenure-track faculty position at the level of assistant professor. The Department of Educational Psychology is a top-10 ranked department. Faculty members have diverse research interests in broad areas such as developmental science, counseling psychology, cognition and student learning, quantitative/qualitative methodology & measurement. We are known for our groundbreaking research, innovative approaches to teaching, and service to the global community. The Department sits within the College of Education, which provides strong support for research and opportunities for collaboration with leaders across campus and in the field and is ranked in the top 25 Education colleges in 2021 by US News and World Report. Collaborations among faculty members are common across other departments within and beyond the College of Education, as well as with faculty at other universities. Position responsibilities: Successful applicants will have research interests in the social, cultural, and/or cognitive dimensions of development, in adolescence and/or adulthood, in the context of education. The specific substantive area of interest is open but may include topics such as social-emotional development; mental health or wellness; adaptation and adjustment, resilience; gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and diversity in school and community settings; family systems; achievement motivation and learning; and cross-cultural research. The successful applicant will be expected to advise doctoral students in both the Divisions of Developmental Science and Counseling Psychology, to teach both graduate and undergraduate courses in child, adolescent and/or lifespan development, psychological health, and/or counseling psychology, and to assume an active role as a member of the College’s scholarly community. 

Qualifications: Candidates must hold an earned doctoral degree in educational psychology, developmental psychology, counseling psychology, or a related field. Candidates with expertise in adolescent development, experimental and survey-based methods, and longitudinal data analysis will be highly considered. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong potential for developing an independent research program and strong accomplishments in teaching.

Salary and Starting Date: Salary will be commensurate with experience. The proposed starting date is August 16, 2022.
