Job Details
The Banner and Database Administrator is responsible for Banner server administration, Web Tier administration, database administration, and documentation, including version control.
Duties include Banner operations administrator, troubleshooting, and support for Ellucian Banner; monitoring, optimizing, and managing a Tomcat server running on Linux OS; monitoring database backups and disaster recovery systems, applications, and servers; and documenting ERP/SIS database and web tier environments, including all processes and procedures and maintaining a matrix of database environments.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required or an associate degree with at least seven years of Banner or other ERP/SIS and database administration experience.
Required Experience
At least five years of Banner or other ERP/SIS and database administration experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Oracle Database Administration including RMAN
- Support and maintenance of a higher education ERP/SIS
- Linux Administration
- Bash scripting
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work weekend and evening hours
- Ability to quickly and accurately troubleshoot database issues and offer effective solutions
- Experience working with technical and non technical staff at all organization levels
