Responsibilities
Under little or no direct supervision, the Director of the Center for Student Success and Academic Excellence performs highly complex managerial and strategic work in the areas of academic coaching and learning support. Performs related administrative and supervisory work as required. The Director reports to the Dean of University College and Student Success.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Coordinates success coaching program including hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating success coaches.
Oversees the Student Success Management System (SSMS), BullsNav.
Oversees academic support services and initiatives within the Center including the Academic Tutoring Lab and Online Tutoring; hires, trains, and evaluates tutors and learning strategists.
Maintains College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) tutor training program certification.
Leads learning assistance services according to requirements set by the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS).
Develops, prepares, and writes various student success related grant proposals.
Assesses the effectiveness of the functional units within the Center.
Qualifications
A Master’s degree in education, psychology, counseling, or a related field supplemented by five years of experience in post-secondary teaching, learning assistance, academic advising, or counseling is required. An earned doctorate is preferred. The equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.
