This position performs a variety of office and interactive duties.
Incumbents will have an option of four different areas to work in
one of the following capacities: External Outreach Coordinator,
Student Dialogue Facilitator, Communications and Social Media
Specialist, and Student Clubs/Organization Liaison.
Education and Experience:
Must maintain enrollment in at
least 6 credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress
throughout each term, maintain a cumulative grade point average of
2.0 or better, and have financial aid in place to be eligible to
work in a Work Study student employee capacity at Linn-Benton
Knowledge and Skills:
Requires knowledge of general clerical
and reception practices. Computer skills including Microsoft Word,
Excel, Google Drive, and email. Ability to communicate
professionally with a variety of people. Self-motivated and
proactive, able to work cooperatively and independently with
attention to detail, and accuracy. Requires good organization and
planning skills. Must have strong communication skills. Provide
outstanding student/campus customer support/service.
Must be able to communicate with faculty, staff
and students, work well independently and with others. Ability to
interact sensitively and effectively with individuals from diverse
backgrounds. Comfortable interacting with and supporting diverse
individuals, confident representing LBCC and OIEDI internally and
externally. Proactive; shows willingness to take initiative.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Physical Skills and Abilitie
- External Outreach Coordinator- bilingual in Spanish. Strong
interpersonal/bilingual, and public speaking skills to
interact/serve Latinx/ BIPOC K-12 students, families, and
- Student Dialogue Facilitator- high level of interpersonal
communication skills and self awareness. Experience leading topical
- Communications and Social Media Specialist- organized,
team-oriented, reliable, high-level interpersonal communications
skills and the ability to incorporate constructive feedback. Strong
social media expertise, including content creation, email marketing
(i.e., MailChimp), Instagram, and related social media
- Student Clubs/Organization Liaison- strong communication and
interpersonal skills to facilitate collaborative relationships with
student clubs/organizations and LBCC personnel. Social media skills
to support overall social media/communication needs.
s: Must be able to operate a
computer and/or other office equipment. May occasionally lift
light- to medium-weight items, with or without assistance.
Work is generally performed indoors with
no exposure to safety and health
hazards. Considerable time may be spent working at a
Specific Core Duty Areas to work in:
- Assist with reception, greet students, faculty, staff and
visitors. Maintain a welcoming environment by answering questions
about services and resources, answering phones and directing calls
and/or taking messages, scheduling appointments for staff and
referring students/public to appropriate campus departments.
- Give on-the-spot presentations to campus tour groups of up to
- Maintain OIEDI bulletin board outside the EDI .
- Manage program participant databases.
- Create Google forms, such as surveys and event schedules.
- Run errands as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
External Outreach Coordinator
- attends with senior staff
outreach and recruitment events in the
community including local high schools, job fairs or community
agencies (i.e., Casa Latinos Unidos), as well as other
Student Dialogue Facilitator
- specifically trained on how
to engage with others regarding dialogue
around inequity, injustice, racism, discrimination or
microaggressions, as well as conversations
regarding difficulty of life, college leadership, etc.
Communications and Social Media Specialist
- works to
promote LBCC’s Office of Institutional
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion ( OIEDI ) and its co-curricular
program by creating digital content, printed materials, videos,
etc. Develop and publish OIEDI social media content that informs
campus communities about current and relevant DEI programs.
Student Clubs/Organization Liaison
- Sustains collaborative
relationships and partnerships with LBCC student
clubs/organizations, including attending meetings and securing
co-sponsorship of programs and activities. Promotes DEI programs
and activities within SLC and LBCC student communities.
