Minimum Qualifications

Four-year degree in broadcast or related field and at least three years of experience in TV production

Must have:
  • Experience as an audio/video broadcast producer as well as use of digital editing equipment and audio production.
  • Knowledge of live production equipment including NewTek and Ross, ESPN+ video streaming, and Daktronics production software preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Must be able to travel and work long hours on occasion.
License/Certification Required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The athletic program at Appalachian State University operates on the premise that intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of the institution’s overall program of education. Priority is given to high standards of both academic and athletic quality — the goal being the complete development of the student-athlete. The Assistant Athletics Director – Sports Productions position reports directly to the Senior Associate Athletics Director and works to:
  • Supervise live video production and creative digital content for App State Athletics
  • Supervise other members of the Sports Productions Department
  • Serve as producer/director for home football broadcasts (ESPN+) and oversee live stream coordination for all other sports
  • Coordinate talent and production staff for TV productions ( ESPN streaming, website/social media streaming and video boards)
  • Oversee all operational aspects of game broadcasts and other live productions such as signing day shows, coaches radio shows and Facebook live events
  • Manage pre-approved production studio & facility enhancements related to broadcast operations
  • Maintain video equipment and facilities
  • Supervise and produce department videos such as student-athlete features, highlight packages, social media & promotional, banquet videos, fundraising videos
  • Manage operational budget
  • Serve as liaison and resource for the Appalachian Sports Network
  • Serve as liaison with University video and communication department units
  • Serve as liaison with video board partner (Daktronics) and broadcast partners
  • Strategically plan to meet future needs of video operations
  • Other duties as assigned
