The Kinesiology Department is seeking an energetic and collaborative individual who is excited about teaching undergraduate students and the opportunity to lead and develop the Kinesiology program. The position’s major responsibilities are to teach undergraduate didactic courses, engage in professional activity, and participate in service to the College. Courses taught may include Introduction to Exercise & Sport Studies, Nutrition for Health and Physical Activity, Biomechanics, and Exercise Physiology, as well as oversight of student practicum and internship experiences. All Austin College students have an applied learning graduation requirement, and these experiences help propel kinesiology students into a variety of fields such as physical therapy, coaching, physical education, and athletic training.
This Assistant/Associate Professor – Tenure-Track position will require the individual to serve as the program director. Consequently, additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to assisting with: program assessment, accreditation standards and reports, curriculum development and assessment, and student mentoring. The timing of taking on duties as director is flexible depending upon prior experience. This position reports to the Dean of Social Sciences and works collaboratively with other faculty and staff to advance the strategic mission of the College. This tenure-track faculty position will begin in August 2024 with a contract to work 9-months of each year.
Qualified candidates must have an earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or a related field as evidenced by specialized training and expertise in sport, physical activity, or human movement. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in and evidence of quality teaching in a higher education setting. The successful candidate will also be expected to embrace the College’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Rank and compensation are commensurate with credentials and experience.
