Alfred University encourages candidates to apply for the position of Web Administrator in the Information Technology Services Division. This person will above all else. dynamically collaborate with the Marketing and Communication professionals in MarCom to provide unified and seamless support and development of the University's Websites.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates with diverse campus constituencies to develop strategies and priorities for development and implementation of the University's website.
- Creates and maintains dynamic web pages, identifying and implementing additions, enhancements and improvements based on user needs.
- Serves as Team Leader for the Web Team. Supervises the activities and work of a web developer, web production specialist and multiple student employees, including hiring, providing work direction, disciplining, and, if necessary, making termination decisions.
- Ensures that web server security measures are in place to protect the technical integrity and reliability of all web servers and data.
- Works closely with the Network Services Manager to ensure maintenance of web-based servers including but not limited to web production, web development, cold fusion server, SQL server and CMS servers.
- Monitors web pages for quality, accuracy, and functionality for accessibility, SEO and performance. This includes ensuring that ~5000 web pages, portal and many web applications are well designed, effective to use, up-to-date, and properly maintained.
- Collaborates with the University Web Team (Composed of ITS technical team and the communications staff in MarCom) to develop and ensure compliance with policies, standards, styles, designs, and other elements of the University's Internet strategy.
- Provides primary web support for Marketing and Communications.
- Keeps up with developments in Internet technology and recognizes and recommends hardware and software improvements.
- Project Manager for the ITS Web Team. Ensures that task are completed in a timely manner.
- Formal Education: Degree in computer science or related field and/or equivalent work experience
- Experience: 4 years' experience as a Web developer
- Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of Cascade Server CMS, Cascading Style Sheets, HTML, Cold Fusion, SQL server, SQL, XML, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Velocity, and modern accessibility standards
