Position Purpose: The Director of Counseling Services is responsible for the overall development, planning and operation of Aurora University's counseling services program. This includes intentional management of referrals to TimelyCare, AtJ's 24/7 medical and mental telehealth service. The Director serves as a key member of the University's Behavioral Intervention Team, which is responsible for determining appropriate interventions for students who may be disruptive or distressed. The Director provides ongoing review of services offered, including assessment of student needs and utilization of services, both in-person and via TimelyCare.

Education:
- Masters or Doctoral degree in a mental health discipline (SocialWork, Counseling or Clinical Psychology) and licensed as a mental health provider in the state of Illinois required
Experience:
- A minimum of four years post-licensure supervised experience or equivalent combination of education, experience and licensure preferred.
- Experience in a higher education environment (preferred) and/or with adults and young adults required,
Skills:
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, with a high degree of independent organization, communication, and ethical practice.
- Clinical experience relevant to working with college students or young adult populations.
- Experience providing crisis intervention.
- Well-developed public speaking skills; interest and comfort in providing outreach and consultation to groups.
- Ability to develop strong collaborative working relationships with all campus constituencies.
Special Requirements:
- Be available outside of work hours ("on call") for consultation regarding referrals to the Behavioral lntervention Team and/or other crises as appropriate.
- Eligible for state licensure as a mental health provider as outlined b the Illinois Department of FinanciaI and Professional Regulation (www.idfpr.com ).
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting, standing, moving about campus, and computer use.
