The Office of Communications shines a spotlight on the people
and programs of Wesleyan University to enhance its reputation as a
leader in liberal education. In so doing, it serves as a partner
with units across campus, providing expertise in brand management,
strategic communication, media relations, digital and social media
strategy, website development, content training and strategy, print
and online publications and videography and photography.
Reporting to the Director of Creative, the Manager of
Multimedia oversees a team of videographers and photographers who
work collaboratively within the Office of Communications, ensuring
high-quality strategic visual storytelling across our distribution
channels. Supporting colleagues and partners across the University,
the Manager of Multimedia maintains a hands-on approach to
developing strategic creative content, creative content, leveraging
new trends and techniques, data-driven decision making and
effective resource allocation.
This position is required to work on campus in Middletown,
- Create strategic video and photography plans based on the goals
of the Office of Communications ensuring that all multimedia
projects and assignments are on message and on brand.
- Create multi-channel distribution plans in collaboration with
Strategic Communications and Digital Marketing teams.
- Create high-quality videos that enhance Wesleyan’s reputation,
attract prospective students, and support development and
- Lead and participate in all aspects of video production from
ideation, pre-production and planning (script and storyboard) to
scheduling and shooting, to post-production and editing, to final
delivery of videos.
- Mentors, leads, and challenges multimedia team to push their
creative boundaries. Ensures that all staff has the direction,
training, and resources to be successful.
- Works closely with the Strategic Communications team to ensure
direct assignments are executed on time, support curated content
creation and ensure compelling visual storytelling.
- Manages multiple multimedia projects/schedules effectively
while communicating progress clearly. Maintains accurate production
- Maintains all multimedia equipment, including strategy and
budget recommendations for maintenance and upgrades to ensure
- Edits and performs post-production tasks such as audio and
color correction, creating title sequences, lower thirds and
onscreen graphics and motion graphics for video programs.
- Researches, evaluates, and recommends emerging multimedia
technologies and platforms for use in future projects.
- Participates in video initiative and policy planning with
regard to use, deployment, sharing, archiving and storage of
university assets such as raw video content and project assets.

Bachelor’s degree, film production, multimedia production,
communications or similar discipline, or an equivalent combination
of education and experience.
Ability to guide strategically oriented storytelling based on

Experience with reporting on video analytics and make data
