The Department of Urology at the University of Washington is seeking a urologist to join an established and high volume urological cancer program at UW Medicine and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA). The position is a full-time, 12-months per year, academic position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level without tenure (WOT), due to funding. The anticipated start date for the position is July 1, 2024. Assistant professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
The base salary range for this position will be: $23,000 per month to $35,000 per month ($276,000 - $420,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through UW Physicians practice plan. Incentive is inclusive of variable incentive, Monthly or Semi-Annual Additional Compensation (MAC/SAAC).
The Department of Urology has an established and high volume urologic practice, a large clinical population from the state of Washington and four neighboring states, active research programs, and an extremely strong academic urology faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and grow a urologic cancer practice, including some aspects of general urology. The candidate will perform open and robotic-assisted surgery and collaborate with other surgeons and medical/radiation oncologists within and across UW Medicine and its affiliated entities.
The University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Duties of the position include demonstration of clinical excellence in the management of urologic oncology conditions. Duties of the position include providing excellent clinical management of urologic oncology conditions, and teaching residents, fellows and students. The selected applicant will have the opportunity to propose a research program. The University of Washington, a recipient of the 2006 Alfred P. Qualifications
The candidate must have a MD (or foreign equivalent) and be a board-certified or board qualified urologist with sub-specialty training in urologic oncology (or foreign equivalent) as demonstrated by the completion of a two year urologic oncology fellowship. Further the candidate must have expertise in general urology and must be eligible to gain privileges for minimally invasive (robotic-assisted) surgery at applicable UW Medicine sites.
All candidates must be eligible for and able to maintain a Washington State medical license. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
