This position reports to the
Director of Procurement and Administrative Services. The Copy
Center Supervisor will provide the daily supervision of this
General Statement of Duties:
solutions to faculty, staff and students to include wide format
prints, color prints, black & white prints, brochures,
booklets, forms and any other materials by the university
community; operate all printers as well as the off-line finishing
equipment; prepare materials needed for conferences, seminars and
lectures; maintains the charge back database.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to:
- Operates and maintains all equipment within the Copy Center,
including both color and black and white printing/copying, wide
format printing, and all finishing and bindery requirements.
Prioritizes requests in order to meet production scheduling and
determine the availability of time, funds, and material needed to
- Maintains an adequate level of disposable supplies including
paper of various weight, color, type as well as toner, plaques,
wide format vinyl and ink, binders and other disposable
- Supervises student employees, assigns tasks and reviews
- Maintains a database of billing information for all print jobs
done by the Copy Center. Uses database to track and analyze
patterns in order to better anticipate workflow; creates charts
and/or graphs to present data.
- Prepares materials for print; reformats submitted jobs and/or
designs projects for customers; provides technical assistance by
advising faculty staff on deadlines, priorities, feasibility of
requests, and the most efficient methods for printing a job.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of the materials, supplies and equipment used in
digital press operations and graphic arts.
- Knowledge of the methods and techniques of graphic
- Knowledge of the safety practices and procedures followed in
graphic arts work.
- Knowledge of principles and correct usage of the English
language including grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Knowledge of the techniques used in proofreading and editing
- Ability to determine proper format and procedures for
assembling items of information.
- Ability to give oral and written instructions in a precise and

- Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
At least two years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience
in digital press operations, graphic arts, graphic design, drawing
or illustrating work. Graduation from a recognized school above
high school level with a major in graphic arts or graphic design
may be substituted for the required experience.
QUALIFICATIONS ACQUIRED ON JOB
Thorough knowledge of departmental, university, and state rules,
regulations, policies and procedures; ability to use hardware and
software packages used in the department.
Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and

be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining
