Job Description

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) seeks a Dean of Graduate School (12-month administrative position). Responsibilities include to serve as chief administrator of the Office of Graduate Studies & Research (GSR), managing budget, personnel, space, and other resources with efficiency and accountability. Teach one course per year in a related field and maintain excellent standards in teaching, research, and scholarship. Represent the Office of GSR within the University community, local and philanthropic communities, and The Texas A&M University System. Foster an organizational culture that supports shared governance, collegiality, and professional development of faculty and staff. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in a discipline represented at The University. Academic credentials commensurate with the rank of associate or full professor with tenure. Have a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. Successful administrative and budgetary knowledge. Experience in higher education or demonstrated leadership and management potential. Experience working with a diverse faculty in a wide range of departments.

Candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Must demonstrate effective leadership, management, supervisory, and strategic planning skills. Candidate must have the bility to interact and collaborate effectively and professionally with faculty, staff, and community constituents. Must possess the ability and the commitment to promote effectively graduate programs and build graduate enrollment. Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality.
